Djurić: Gratitude for Venezuela's support to the preservation of Serbia's national interests

The Minister of Foreign Affairs Marko Djurić had a telephone conversation with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela Yvan Gil Pinto in which the traditionally good and friendly relations between the two countries and peoples were reaffirmed.

The Head of Serbian diplomacy thanked his interlocutor for the unconditional assistance and support lent by Venezuela to Serbia in the defense of its national interests and underlined once again the importance of the role that Venezuela played during Serbia's struggle regarding the proposal for a resolution on Srebrenica.

Minister Djuric emphasized that Serbia highly values ​​the unequivocal position of Venezuela when it comes to respect for the territorial integrity and sovereignty of our country, and pointed out that Serbia will continue to pursue its autonomous and independent policy, but a policy of stability and reconciliation.

Minister Pinto stated that Serbia and Venezuela were characterized by fraternal and solidarity relations, and that Serbia can always count on Venezuela's support, emphasizing that his country highly appreciates Serbia's support within the international community.

The two interlocutors assessed that the two countries have a long tradition of bilateral relations dating back to 1882, and that in the coming period it is necessary to work on expanding the existing cooperation in all areas, as well as to continue with regular meetings of officials from both countries.
