Political relations

Political relations are very good and developed.

The President of the Republic of Serbia A. Vučić visited Abu Dhabi on 11 December 2018. At the invitation of Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, heir to the throne of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces of the United Arab Emirates, addressed to the President of the Republic of Serbia A. Vučić, Prime Minister of the Republic of Serbia A. Brnabić, as his special envoy, participated in the opening ceremony of Abu Dhabi Week for Sustainability and the award ceremony Zayd Awards for Sustainability, held in Abu Dhabi, on 10 – 14 January 2020. Former First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs I. Dačić participated in the Sir Bani Yas Forum in Abu Dhabi in 2017, 2018 and 2019. The Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, attended the inauguration of the President of the Republic of Serbia, A. Vučić on 21 June 2017. The President of the Federal National Council of the United Arab Emirates in the previous convocation, Dr. Amal Al Qubaisi, led the parliamentary delegation of that country at the 141st Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union, which was held on 13 – 17 October 2019 in Belgrade.

 

Economic relations

Bilateral economic cooperation is on the rise. In 2019, the total realized value of trade exchange amounted to 145.632.000 euros, of which Serbian exports were 120.661.000 euros, and imports 24.971.000 euros. According to the data of the National Bank of Serbia, during 2017, the inflow of net foreign direct investments from the United Arab Emirates amounted to 132.2 million euros, while in 2018 it was somewhat lower.

Based on the RAS database, the largest investments are from the following Emirati companies: Chabros International Group / DIV Chabros wood industry d.o.o. Loznica; Mulk Holdings FZC / Alubond Europe d.o.o .; Al Dahra International Investment LLC / Rudnap Agrar; Yugo Elite Agro / Elite Agro LLC; Mirabank; SERTA / Airport Catering and Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation.

 

Bilateral agreements

Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Serbia and the Government of the United Arab Emirates on the avoidance of double taxation with respect to income taxes.

Signed on 17 February 2013.

Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Serbia and the Government of the United Arab Emirates on cooperation in the field of defence;

Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Serbia and the Government of the United Arab Emirates on mutual encouragement and protection of investments.
