Political relations

Bilateral relations are traditionally good and friendly, with no open issues. Regarding politics, they were determined through common membership in the Non-Aligned Movement. There is interest for improving political dialogue and cooperation in the field of economy, infrastructure, and agriculture.

A number of meetings were held during recent years at the level of the foreign affairs ministers of the two countries on the side-lines of international and regional events.

The then Vice President of the Plurinational State of Bolivia Álvaro García Linera was in Belgrade during 25—28 July 2017, participating in the XVIII Congress of the Federación Internacional de Estudios sobre América Latina y el Caribe (FIEALC). On this occasion he met the then First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ivica Dačić.

 

Economic relations

During 2020 exports amounted to 291,000 euros, while imports amounted to 3.3 million euros. During 2019 exports amounted to 277,000 euros, while imports amounted to 1.8 million euros.

Consular Convention between the Federal People’s Republic of Yugoslavia and the Republic of Bolivia, signed on 21 May 1962 (The Official Gazette No. 11/1963, Addendum)

Trade agreement between SFRY and Bolivia, signed on 2 October 1963 (The Official Gazette No. 2/1965, Addendum)

Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia and Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Plurinational State of Bolivia on establishing a bilateral consultations mechanism, signed on 25 September 2019 (The Official Gazette of the Republic of Serbia - International Agreements, No. 12/19).
