To strengthen political and economic cooperation of Serbia and Guinea Bissau

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Serbia, Nikola Selaković, has discussed in New York with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Communities of Guinea Bissau, Suzi Barbosa.

Minister Selaković estimated that current relations of the two countries were friendly, but insufficiently developed and expressed the readiness of Serbia to strengthen political and especially economic cooperation. The Minister introduced his interlocutor to the success of economic reforms in Serbia in the past seven years.

Selaković informed Minister Barbosa on the situation in Kosovo and Metohija and continued disrespect and failure to implement the Brussels Agreement. He highlighted that our party was dedicated to the dialog with the aim of reaching the compromised solution.

Selaković expressed hope also that the delegation of Guinea Bissau would be a participant at the high-level gathering which would be held in our capital in October on the occasion of the celebration of the 60th anniversary of the First Non-Allied Movement conference in Belgrade.

The Minister informed his interlocutor on “The World in Serbia”, a program of scholarship for students from African countries and countries of the Non-Allied Movement adding that Serbia was ready to offer schooling in our country to a greater number of students from Guinea Bissau, than currently two per year.

The interlocutors recalled the Yugoslavian support to the fight for the liberation of Guinea Bissau and the fact that it had been the first European country to recognize it.
