Serbian Foreign Minister Marko Đurić confers with Somali Foreign Minister Ahmed Moalim Fiqi
During the conversation, Minister Đurić highlighted Serbia’s pride in the traditionally strong relations and decades-long friendship with Somalia, reaffirming Serbia’s firm commitment to further strengthening and deepening overall cooperation with this African nation.
"Our bilateral cooperation is characterized by years of friendship, founded on the principles of the Non-Aligned Movement, the UN Charter, and mutual respect," Đurić emphasized.
The Serbian Foreign Minister expressed gratitude to Somalia for its support of Serbia’s territorial integrity and sovereignty, while also underlining Serbia’s respect for Somalia’s territorial integrity.
Expressing confidence that the two countries will continue to support each other in the international arena, Đurić stated that Serbia highly values Somalia’s support regarding Kosovo and Metohija.
The discussion also covered economic cooperation and opportunities for its enhancement in various fields, including agriculture, construction, and ICT. Minister Đurić expressed particular satisfaction with cooperation within the "World in Serbia" program, noting Serbia’s readiness to increase the number of scholarships for Somali students studying in the country.
Regarding security cooperation, Minister Đurić underscored the importance of counterterrorism efforts as a key aspect of bilateral relations, both in the regional and global security context.
