Selaković met with the president of Guatemala
Conveying greetings from the President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, and congratulations on the successes in Guatemala's economic reforms, Selaković expressed hope that President Falla would pay an official visit to Serbia.
Selaković said that the relations between the two countries are based on sincere friendship, respect and understanding, and pointed out that Serbia is determined to further strengthen ties and overall cooperation with friendly Guatemala.
The minister added that the long tradition of our friendship is evidenced by the fact that next year, the two countries will mark 140 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations, pointing out that such a jubilee deserves to be adequately marked in all fields, not only political – bilateral visits and signing of a comprehensive cooperation agreement between the two countries, but also in the field of culture, science, education, sports...
He pointed out that our two countries should use all potentials to improve economic cooperation, so that it follows the level of excellent and friendly political relations.
The Minister expressed satisfaction and thanked for the confirmation that the Guatemalan delegation, led by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, will be present at the upcoming commemorative gathering in Belgrade, on the occasion of marking the 60th anniversary of the First Conference of the Non-Aligned Movement in Belgrade.
President Falla and Minister Selaković agreed to mutually abolish visas for citizens of both countries and for such an agreement to be signed in Belgrade, during the commemorative gathering of the Non-Aligned Movement.
The head of Serbian diplomacy especially thanked Guatemala for its sincere support in preserving the territorial integrity and sovereignty of our country, and for its commitment to respecting the basic principles of international law. Selaković also informed the President of Guatemala about the situation in the Brussels dialogue, as well as about the current provocations of Pristina and the difficult position of the Serbian people.
Introducing the President to the successes of Serbia's economic reforms in the past seven years, Selaković stressed that our country is now able to help friendly countries, and that it has so far donated about 1.1 million Covid vaccines to countries in the region, Africa and the Middle East.
The head of Serbian diplomacy informed the President of Guatemala that Serbia will prepare financial support for the village called Serbia in Guatemala, to eliminate the consequences of an earthquake by building houses for families in this Guatemalan village named after our country.
The meeting of the minister of foreign affairs of Serbia with the president of Guatemala was attended by the minister of foreign affairs and the minister of labor of that Central American state.
