The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, pursuant to the foreign policy priorities of the Government of the Republic of Serbia, and in coordination with the President of the Republic, in the first hundred days of the Government, worked intensively to promote Serbia's international position, to ensure support for our vital state and national interests, as well as to protect the interests of our citizens abroad.

The implementation of an overhauled foreign policy approach has begun in order to promote relations with our key foreign policy partners and traditional friends.

Efforts have also been made towards the enhancement of relations with distant regions (the Caribbean, Latin and Central America), as well as rapprochement with countries that show a lower degree of understanding for Serbia's vital interests, through a more detailed and clearer presentation of our arguments on issues where our views differ, while also encouraging the development of bilateral cooperation in areas of mutual interest.

In the previous period, Foreign Minister Marko Djuric participated in six major international summits, had more than a hundred meetings with representatives of foreign countries and visited 11 countries.

Representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs held bilateral political consultations with colleagues from Finland, Namibia, Morocco and the Netherlands, as well as consular consultations with Iran.

Significant efforts have been made in the fight to protect our state and national interests when it comes to Kosovo and Metohija. Serbian diplomacy worked intensively to prevent the admission of Pristina to the Council of Europe and to ensure that the truth about the situation in the southern Serbian province and the problems our people are facing there is heard in all corners of the world.

Representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as part of the team headed by President Aleksandar Vucic, carried out an extensive and intensive diplomatic campaign in the fight against the adoption of the resolution on Srebrenica in the UN General Assembly.

The appearances of our diplomats in foreign media outlets have intensified, with the aim of creating a new image, improving the reputation of our country and elaborating on the political positions of Serbia.

When it comes to the promotion of Serbia's economic interests, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs continued to provide assistance and support to our entrepreneurs and their presence abroad, as well as to hold regular consultations with representatives of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Serbia, Development Agency of Serbia and the business community with the aim of breaking into new promising markets.

Modernizing the work done by the consular service and improving the provision of consular services to Serbian citizens abroad are activities to which the Ministry of Foreign Affairs attaches special importance, and a number of steps have been made in this context. Among other things, the process of implementing a new software for receiving applications for biometric passports has started, which was installed in 10 diplomatic missions and consular posts, in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro and Austria, and is currently being installed and put into operation in the diplomatic missions and consular posts in Slovakia and Germany.

As part of the expansion of our diplomatic and consular network, and based on the Memorandum of Understanding between the Serbian Foreign Ministry and the Hungarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade on the joint use of premises of the two countries’ diplomatic missions and consular posts, the Serbian Embassy in Santiago, Chile began to operate in July.

In the coming period, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in cooperation and coordination with President of the Republic Aleksandar Vucic and Prime Minister of Serbia Milos Vucevic, will continue to enhance its personnel potentials and develop the diplomatic and consular network in order to successfully remain on the front line of defence of state and national interests.
