Improvement of bilateral cooperation between Serbia and Vietnam

First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ivica Dačić received today a courtesy visit of the newly-appointed Ambassador of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam Do Dak Tan, who presented his Letter of Credence to President of Serbia Aleksandar Vučić on 22nd May 2023.

During the talks they agreed that the relations between the two countries were traditionally friendly, without any open issues, with common history of participation in the Non-Aligned Movement, expressing satisfaction that the two countries celebrated last year 65th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations.

They confirmed mutual commitment to further strengthening of the political dialogue, exchange of visits on higher and the highest level as well as strengthening of overall cooperation in economic areas, for which there are plentiful opportunities.

Minister Dačić expressed gratitude to Vietnam for principled support to preservation of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Republic of Serbia and their consistent position on the issue of Kosovo and Metohija. 

Underlining the interest of the Republic of Serbia to join the Treaty of Amity and Cooperation in South-East Asia (TAC) of the Association of South-East Asian Nations (ASEAN), he thanked Vietnam for their support to that effect. 

The two sides confirmed the commitment to reopen the diplomatic missions in the upcoming period in Belgrade and Hanoi.
