30. Jul 2024.
Minister of Foreign Affairs of Serbia Marko Djuric met today in Nicosia with President of the Republic of Cyprus Nikos Christodoulides.

Minister Djuric conveyed greetings from the President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, to the President of Cyprus, expressing hope that an official visit at the highest level would take place soon.

The Serbian Foreign Minister thanked Cyprus for its firm stance concerning non-recognition of the unilaterally declared independence of the so-called Kosovo, informing his collocutor about the current situation in the southern Serbian province and the difficult position of Serbs there, worsened further by Pristina's new, tendentious bans on the Serbian dinar and supplies of Serbian goods.

Furthermore, the Minister emphasized the principled support of Serbia to the territorial integrity and sovereignty of friendly Cyprus.

"In Serbia, Cyprus has a friend and a dependable ally in this part of Europe", Djuric underscored.

The head of Serbian diplomacy also discussed economic cooperation with the President of Cyprus, with a particular focus on further developing tourism potentials, which includes participation in the Tourism Fair and the upcoming International Specialized Exhibition EXPO 2027, which will be hosted by Belgrade.

In this context, at today's meeting in Nicosia, coordination activities between state institutions were agreed upon to mutually promote the tourism potentials of the two countries.
