Đurić Confers with Uzbekistan’s Foreign Minister in Belgrade
The interlocutors assessed that President Mirziyoyev’s visit provides significant impetus to the further development of relations between Serbia and Uzbekistan and reaffirms the mutual political commitment to strengthening the strategic partnership and comprehensive cooperation between the two countries.
Đurić emphasised that Serbia particularly values the intensification of political dialogue with Uzbekistan, as well as the friendly and partnership-based relations that the two countries have been building in recent years.
Minister Đurić noted with satisfaction that the final steps towards opening the Embassy of the Republic of Serbia in the Republic of Uzbekistan are under way, which will provide additional impetus to the further development of bilateral relations.
He particularly highlighted the importance of regular high-level contacts between the relevant authorities of the two countries, as well as the organisation of business forums and activities bringing together representatives of their respective business communities, with a view to further advancing economic cooperation and increasing bilateral trade and investment.
The Serbian Foreign Minister highlighted the high degree of mutual understanding between the two countries and thanked Uzbekistan for its consistent support for the territorial integrity and sovereignty of the Republic of Serbia with regard to Kosovo and Metohija.
In view of Uzbekistan’s forthcoming chairmanship of the Non-Aligned Movement for the 2027–2029 period, the importance of the Movement as a key platform for strengthening international cooperation and political dialogue and promoting the common interests of its member states was underscored, as was the additional opportunity it will provide for further strengthening cooperation between Serbia and Uzbekistan.
Minister Đurić welcomed the confirmation of Uzbekistan’s participation in the Specialised Expo 2027 in Belgrade, noting that its participation will make a significant contribution to this prestigious international event.
During today’s visit by the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan to Serbia, a number of signed agreements and cooperation documents were exchanged. Minister Đurić and his Uzbek counterpart signed the Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Serbia and the Government of the Republic of Uzbekistan on Interregional Cooperation, as well as the Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan on Cooperation in the Field of Economic Diplomacy.
