25. May 2026.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia Marko Đurić met in Ottawa with members of the Canada–Serbia Parliamentary Friendship Group, led by Member of Parliament Nenad Kuruc.

It was assessed that the renewal of the activities of the Parliamentary Friendship Group at the end of 2025, following a multi-year hiatus, represents a crucial step toward further strengthening Serbia–Canada relations and creates new opportunities for enhanced cooperation in the political, economic, and social spheres.

Twenty members of the Friendship Group attended the meeting, which, as noted, reflects a growing interest in advancing relations with Serbia.

Minister Đurić emphasized that parliamentary diplomacy plays a key role in building mutual trust and fostering a better understanding between the two countries, underscoring that Serbia attaches significant importance to the development of partnership relations with Canada.

The head of Serbian diplomacy also pointed to the importance of strengthening institutional cooperation, as well as the need for more intensive networking among the economic, academic, and cultural communities of the two countries.

Minister Đurić extended an invitation to members of the Parliamentary Friendship Group to visit Serbia and gain first-hand insight into the country’s potential and the achievements Serbia is making in the fields of economic development and international cooperation.
