Đurić Confers with Emanuele Giaufret

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia Marko Đurić met today with Deputy Managing Director for Western Europe at the European External Action Service Emanuele Giaufret to discuss Serbia’s European path, the situation in Kosovo and Metohija, as well as current regional and international issues.

Đurić reiterated that membership in the European Union remains a strategic foreign policy objective of the Republic of Serbia, emphasising that it is of great importance to Serbia that the enlargement policy remain a priority for both the EU institutions and its Member States.

The Serbian Foreign Minister underscored the importance of continuous and substantive political dialogue between Serbia and the European Union with a view to advancing reform efforts within the accession process, strengthening stability and enhancing connectivity across the Western Balkans.

With regard to Kosovo and Metohija, Đurić emphasised the importance of preserving peace, stability and security, as well as the need for the consistent implementation of agreements reached and commitments undertaken to date. He reiterated that Serbia remains firmly committed to the EU-facilitated dialogue, with the expectation that the process will deliver tangible results and contribute to building sustainable trust.

Speaking about the situation in the region, Đurić noted that Serbia attaches the utmost importance to advancing regional cooperation and to further strengthening mutual understanding and respect. According to Đurić, precisely in circumstances where differing views exist on certain issues, dialogue remains the most important instrument for building trust and gradually identifying mutually acceptable solutions.
