Đurić confers with Congressman Brian Mast

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia, Marko Đurić, met today in Washington with Congressman Brian Mast, Chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee of the United States Congress, with whom he discussed opportunities to further advance relations and cooperation between Serbia and the United States, as well as current issues on the international agenda.

Emphasizing that the United States is one of Serbia’s most important foreign policy partners, Minister Đurić underlined that Serbia is firmly committed to further strengthening its overall ties with the United States in the period ahead.

During the meeting, Minister Đurić highlighted the importance of the Strategic Dialogue with the United States, noting that deepening cooperation is in the shared interest of both countries.

The Serbian Foreign Minister stressed that, in this context, Serbia attaches great importance to direct engagement with U.S. officials, both for exchanging views on priority topics and for strengthening mutual trust. Minister Đurić also used the opportunity to extend an invitation to Congressman Mast to visit Belgrade.

Minister Đurić briefed his interlocutor on the situation in Kosovo and Metohija, drawing particular attention to the extremely difficult circumstances faced by the Serbian people there, who continue to be exposed to systematic pressure.

The interlocutors also exchanged views on current geopolitical challenges, as well as on cooperation in the fields of economy and energy. Minister Đurić further explained the complex situation in which Serbia has found itself following the imposition of sanctions on NIS.
