The Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia, Dušan Kozarev, met today with the Ambassador of the Republic of Tunisia to Serbia, H.E. Imen Lazhili Amari, to discuss opportunities for enhancing bilateral cooperation.

In light of the strong historical and friendly ties between the two countries—dating back to the era of the former Yugoslavia—and their excellent political relations, it was concluded that further efforts should now be directed towards deepening economic cooperation.

Kozarev emphasized Serbia’s firm commitment to strengthening ties and advancing political dialogue and cooperation with African nations. He expressed gratitude to Tunisia for its principled respect for international law and its continued support for the territorial integrity and sovereignty of the Republic of Serbia.

The two officials also discussed the bilateral legal framework between the two countries, the potential for enhanced cooperation between their respective Ministries of Foreign Affairs, and the possibility of connecting their diplomatic academies through joint training programs and courses for young diplomats.

Addressing current developments in the region, including tensions related to Bosnia and Herzegovina and the difficult situation facing the Serbian population in Kosovo and Metohija, Kozarev highlighted the challenges Serbia has faced in recent months. He particularly drew attention to the politicization of the tragedy in Novi Sad, which culminated in a two-week blockade of the public broadcaster RTS, during which employees were denied the right to work and report professionally. He noted that the negative effects of these actions are already impacting the economy, while emphasizing that the government is striving to preserve social peace and stability.

Secretary General Kozarev expressed appreciation for Tunisia’s confirmed participation in the specialized exhibition Expo 2027, while Ambassador Amari conveyed her satisfaction that her country will be part of this important international event, hosted by Belgrade.
