Selakovic: A lot of room for the promotion of economic relations between Serbia and Iran

Minister of Foreign Affairs of Serbia Nikola Selakovic started his official visit to Iran by meeting with Deputy Minister of Industry, Mine and Trade and President of the Trade Promotion Organization of Iran Hamid Zadboom, with whom he discussed the opportunities for intensifying economic relations between our two states.

Minister Selakovic stated that Iran was a traditional partner of Serbia and a friendly country, and that it was in the mutual interest to use the good political relations towards the promotion of economic cooperation.

He added that Serbia was interested in the offer of Iranian partners to discuss a free trade agreement between our two states.

The interlocutors assessed that the areas in which it was possible to enhance cooperation were numerous, such as the pharmaceutical industry, food industry and agriculture, automotive industry, IT sector, furniture industry, textile and machine industry, etc.

On the first day of his visit to Tehran, Selakovic will also have talks with his Iranian counterpart Minister of Foreign Affairs Mohammad Javad Zarif, and the next day also with President of Iran Hassan Rouhani, Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf and Minister of Agriculture Kazem Khavazi.
