06. May 2021.
Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia Nikola Selakovic stated today, summarizing his visit to Rabat, that Morocco was a friendly state to Serbia, that brotherly cooperation with that country continued and that it would only be promoted further.

Pointing out that the 65th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries would be celebrated next year, the Serbian Foreign Minister underlined that the next year would be the year of Morocco in Serbia as well as the year of Serbia in Morocco.

"I hope that we will be able to welcome the officials of friendly Morocco in Serbia very soon. There are many similarities between our two countries, primarily in terms of the fact that we live in complex regions, the way we conduct our foreign policy, the character of our relations with major global powers, and certainly with the EU, but also in terms of similarities in ordinary life", the Minister said and added that he was proud to hear a lot of positive things from the officials of the Kingdom of Morocco about the way President Vucic was leading Serbia.

"Morocco is a truly friendly country to the Republic of Serbia, a country experiencing serious development and momentum. I am proud to have represented our homeland here, proud of what I could hear about Serbia, proud of how much Serbia's reputation and word are valued", the Minister emphasized.

Selakovic also said that, on his official visit, he had talks with the Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Morocco, the Speaker of the House of Representatives of the Parliament, and that he had extremely fruitful talks with his Moroccan counterpart Nasser Bourita who, as the Minister emphasized, was a true friend of our country as evidenced by the support that he selflessly, in all places and all international forums and organizations, extended to Serbia on the issue of preserving its territorial integrity and sovereignty and our country's efforts to resolve the issue of Kosovo and Metohija in the right way, in accordance with its interests and established rules of international law.

The Head of Serbian diplomacy emphasized in particular the talks on promoting cooperation and having the good spirit existing in the political field translate to all other fields of cooperation, primarily to economic cooperation, and pointed out that they also touched upon the preparations for the third session of the Joint Committee for Economic and Trade Cooperation between Serbia and Morocco, which was believed to be taking place over the summer.

Furthermore, the Minister expected the cooperation between the two countries to be promoted in the field of higher education, culture and scientific research.

Recalling the meeting with the Mayor of Rabat, the Minister pointed out that he discussed cooperation between the two capitals, comparing the similarities between the two capitals, which, as he estimated, had been developing at an accelerated pace in the last few years.

"I had the opportunity to visit two locations where the Emirati company 'Eagle Hills' and Mr. Alabbar, like in Belgrade, are building two exceptional residential and business complexes, and also to hear many compliments and praise for both Serbia and our capital when it comes to the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic, our economic development and the promotion of Serbian economy", the Minister said.

Selakovic emphasized that the cooperation between the two fraternal friendly countries would continue, convinced that it would be added a new dimension in the period ahead.
