Minister Selaković extended his sincere congratulations on the occasion of Sretenje, the Statehood Day of Serbia
"Everything we have today would not exist without the Sretenje held in 1804, when the idea of a Serbian state became possible owing to our ancestors’ heroism," he said in his address.
Minister Selaković stressed that our ancestors, but above all our descendants, are those to whom we owe unity in the fight for Serbia’s vision of the future.
"Today, Serbia is among the fastest growing economies in Europe. We have succeeded in making it a country of fast roads, strong economy, top-notch technologies. After years of stagnation and setbacks, we have managed to keep up with the times and thereby become the driving force of the entire region," he said.
In a videotaped address of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Minister Selaković highlighted that both Serbia and the Serbian people enjoy freedom with as much passion as before and thus pave their way with the same desire to organise their society on the most advanced achievements of civilization. And all that we owe to countless victims of our compatriots, whose lives laid the foundations of Serbia.
"On this very day, let us remember our glorious ancestors, all those who laid down their lives so that Serbia could exist. Let us vow to live in a way to consistently make our country better and more successful," Minister Selaković said.
Minister Selaković ended his speech by saying that the struggle we are faced with today must be democratic, one that will only be overcome with the help of know-how, values, patience and harmony, with stability and peace as the grounds for our success.
