Minister Dačić meets with Under Secretary Nuland in the margins of the OSCE Ministerial Council
Minister Dačić and Under Secretary Nuland discussed the status of bilateral relations between the two countries and agreed that efforts should be made to intensify the political dialogue. Minister Dačić emphasised that a strategic dialogue between Serbia and USA, as proposed by Serbia, would send a strong message to Serbia and its citizens about the current relations, while also giving a clearer structure to the bilateral dialogue.
In the matter of Kosovo and Metohija, Minister Dačić stated that Serbia was ready to consider all initiatives originating from international representatives concerning normalisation of the relations between Belgrade and Pristina. In his words, Belgrade remained fully committed to the dialogue, but insisted that all the obligations from the agreements reached so far should be implemented, or else any participation in the dialogue would be pointless.
Minister Dačić also expressed his gratitude for Washington's continued support to our path to a full EU membership, one of the priority foreign policy goals of Serbia and its strategic commitment. However, he also said that Serbia was against making the progress of Serbia’s European integration contingent on the progress in the dialogue with Pristina, in view of the fact that developments in that process did not solely depend on the Serbian side.
Minister Dačić and Under Secretary Nuland agreed to work on strengthening regional peace and stability, and stressed that a constructive position of Serbia in all regional matters was subject to economic interests and progress, as it was possible only in a stable environment, which would be helped by further US investments.
