Minister Dačić meets with with Minister of Foreign Affairs of Canada Mélanie Joly

In the margins of the OSCE Ministerial Council in the city of Lodz, Poland, First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Serbia Ivica Dačić had a meeting with Minister of Foreign Affairs of Canada Mélanie Joly.

Minister Dačić and Minister Joly expressed their commitment to strengthening the bilateral relations, which had a long tradition, as the previous year had marked the 80the anniversary of the diplomatic relations between Serbia and Canada. They highlighted the importance of intensifying the political dialogue and the exchange of visits by officials of the two countries.

Minister Dačić emphasised that Serbia was striving to improve economic and other cooperation in the fields of mining, energy and agriculture, as well as to attract Canadian investment. 

Cooperation within the framework of international organisations such OSCE and other multilateral forums was also discussed. In this context, Minister Dačić said he hoped that Canada would support Serbia’s candidacy for becoming a full member of the International Organization of La Francophonie.
