24. Jan 2023.
First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia Ivica Dacic is today on an official visit to Brussels, where in the morning he met with the Green Party MEP, shadow rapporteur on Serbia and EP Standing Rapporteur for the so-called Kosovo, Viola von Cramon.

Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia Ivica Dacic also met with MEPs Demetris Papadakis and Matjaz Nemec, co-facilitator in the inter-party dialogue process with the National Assembly, and also with Alessandra Moretti, Chair of the EP Delegation and Co-Chair to the EU-Serbia Stabilisation and Association Parliamentary Committee.

In separate conversations, First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Serbia Ivica Dacic reiterated the position that membership of the European Union remained Serbia's strategic goal, as well as one of the main foreign policy priorities.

He also noted that Serbia remained fully committed to the reform process and the promotion of all spheres of our society, as well as to the further development of regional cooperation, which directly contributed to the building of mutual trust, the process of reconciliation and encouraged overall development on our path to full EU membership.

When it comes to progress on the European path, the MEPs positively assessed the reform process, as well as the steps taken by the Serbian Government to harmonize its visa policy with the EU, but also called for further harmonization of the foreign and security policy. Head of Serbian diplomacy Dacic said that Serbia had no problem aligning with EU policies in the part that was not to the detriment of its national interests.

When it comes to the dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina, the interlocutors welcomed the continuation of activities and agreed that only an open dialogue was the proper path towards reaching a compromise and sustainable solution.

The interlocutors exchanged views on the current situation in Ukraine. In this context, Dacic reiterated that Serbia condemned any violation of international law, but he expressed regret that some European officials insisted on the necessity of respecting the territorial integrity of Ukraine, which Serbia unequivocally supported, but for which it had no support in its own case.
