The Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia, Dušan Kozarev, met on the sidelines of the Adriatic-Ionian Initiative gathering in Crete with the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Hellenic Republic for Economic Diplomacy, Mr. Tasos Chatzivasileiou.

Kozarev congratulated Greece on the successful organization of the event in its capacity as the chair of the Initiative.

He reiterated Serbia’s and its highest leadership’s commitment—under the guidance of President Aleksandar Vučić—to strengthening regional connectivity and stability, particularly in the economic domain.

The Secretary General emphasized Serbia’s determination to further enhance overall ties with Greece.

He briefed his interlocutor on the current situation in Kosovo and Metohija and the difficult conditions faced by the Serbian population due to the ongoing unilateral actions of the authorities in Priština. He reaffirmed Serbia’s commitment to the continuation of dialogue once a credible counterpart is in place, and expressed gratitude for Greece’s firm support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Serbia.

Kozarev also informed him about the failed attempt at a color revolution in Serbia and the new government’s efforts to overcome the consequences of months-long blockades on the Serbian economy.

The current situation in the region was also discussed, with particular reference to Bosnia and Herzegovina, emphasizing the importance of upholding the Dayton Agreement and maintaining peace.

It was jointly noted that the strong mutual understanding and close cooperation between the leaderships of both countries—especially between the Presidents—provide a solid foundation for further strengthening the traditionally fraternal relations.
