Kozarev confers with the State Secretary of the Romanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs
The interlocutors noted that relations between the two countries are at a high level, underpinned by the traditional friendship between the two peoples.
Both sides reaffirmed their willingness to continue cooperation in areas of priority interest, with particular emphasis on the economy and culture.
Staicu underlined that Romania continues to offer unequivocal support to Serbia regarding Kosovo and Metohija, for which Kozarev expressed his gratitude, including for the engagement of Romanian troops within KFOR. He highlighted the fragile security situation in Serbia’s southern province, informing her of the challenges faced by the Serbian people and noting that their Orthodox Christian heritage is also endangered as a result of the terror imposed by Kurti’s regime.
The determination of the Romanian authorities to contribute to accelerating Serbia’s European path was reiterated, with the observation that mutual cross-border cooperation serves as an excellent example of success — including the status of both peoples as national minorities, as well as existing and planned energy and transport links.
Kozarev emphasized that the goal of the Serbian Government is to align Serbia’s legislation with the EU acquis by the end of 2026.
He welcomed Romania’s confirmation of its participation in the upcoming Specialized Exhibition “EXPO 2027” in Belgrade.
