Jović at the First Conference of the Serbian Diaspora in Melbourne
The Conference brought together around 120 distinguished representatives of the Serbian diaspora, the Metropolitanate of Australia and New Zealand, as well as senior Australian officials. Through panel discussions, participants exchanged views on the preservation of the Serbian national, cultural, and linguistic identity, the involvement of people of Serbian origin in the political life of Australia, as well as initiatives aimed at further enhancing the overall relations and cooperation between the two countries.
In his address to the gathering, Jović underlined the importance of unity of the Serbian people, both in the homeland and abroad. He expressed satisfaction with the strong connectedness of the Serbian diaspora across Australia, highlighting the significant role of the Metropolitanate of Australia and New Zealand, under the leadership of Metropolitan Siluan, as well as of the diaspora community itself, in safeguarding national and cultural identity.
The Conference was organized with the support of the Directorate for Cooperation with the Diaspora and Serbs in the Region of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in cooperation with the Australia-Serbia Chamber of Commerce and the Embassy of the Republic of Serbia in Canberra.
