Jovanović confers with the Permanent State Secretary of the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Finland

The State Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia, Nevena Jovanović, met today with the Permanent State Secretary of the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Finland, Ambassador Jukka Salovaara.

Both sides expressed satisfaction with the development of bilateral relations between Serbia and Finland, as well as their mutual readiness to further enhance them through intensified political dialogue and strengthened economic cooperation.

State Secretary Jovanović emphasized the importance of continuous and open dialogue between Serbia and Finland, underscoring Serbia’s commitment to further advancing overall relations and deepening cooperation in areas of mutual interest.

Ambassador Salovaara highlighted Finland’s support for the European Union’s enlargement policy, stressing the importance of including the entire Western Balkans region in the EU. He particularly noted that Finland’s support is based on tangible results achieved in the reform process and that Finland views Serbia as an institutionally stable state with potential for continued reforms.

The interlocutors also exchanged views on current multilateral issues, referring to the conclusions of this year’s session of the United Nations Human Rights Council and exploring possibilities for continued cooperation within the UN system.
