Jovanović Confers with NATO Deputy Assistant Secretary General

The State Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia Nevena Jovanović met today in Belgrade with NATO Deputy Assistant Secretary General Kevin Hamilton.

The meeting focused on the partnership cooperation between the Republic of Serbia and the Alliance, implemented within the framework of the Partnership for Peace programme, in accordance with Serbia’s policy of military neutrality and with the aim of achieving the shared interest of preserving peace and stability in the region.

State Secretary Jovanović particularly emphasized that, for the Republic of Serbia, the continued engagement of international security forces in Kosovo and Metohija in an undiminished scope and capacity is of utmost importance. She conveyed the expectation of the Serbian side that the KFOR Mission will maintain its status-neutral posture and, in line with its mandate, act proactively in order to preserve security and protect the Serbian population in the area.

The interlocutors also agreed on the importance of the joint Serbia-NATO military exercise taking place in Serbia from 11 to 23 May.
