First Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ivica Dačić meets President of the Senate of France
First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia Ivica Dačić highlighted the historical importance of the first visit of the President of the French Senate to the Republic of Serbia. Minister Ivica Dačić recalled the traditional friendly relations between the two countries and the closeness of the two peoples, but also the bilateral relations raised to the level of a strategic partnership.
The head of Serbian diplomacy Ivica Dačić stressed how significant it was to continue a political dialogue, expressing the hope that contacts and visits at the high and the highest level will continue. He reminded that mutual contacts and discussions brought back the memory of everything that Serbia and France had in common and that connected them through the long and rich history of the two nations.
The President of the Senate of the Republic of France Gérard Larcher confirmed the importance of the strategic partnership between the two countries, especially its economic, cultural and defense dimensions. Gérard Larcher emphasized the importance of the presence and high-level representation of the Republic of Serbia at the Summit and Ministerial Conference of Francophonie in Djerba in November 2022, considering that the International Organization of Francophonie should, in addition to the economic one, have a greater political role on the international level. Senator Larcher particularly emphasized the importance of the meeting of the First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia Ivica Dačić with the President of the Republic of France Emmanuel Macron, on the sidelines of the Summit.
On this occasion, the President of Senate of the Republic of France Gérard Larchet confirmed the support and offered all the necessary assistance of France to the integration of the Republic of Serbia to the EU especially through the cooperation of the competent committees of the two parliaments.
Questions from the domain of politics and economy, the regional situation in the Balkans and the present international issues were also discussed.
