Dačić: We have successfully protected state interests, will not cross the red lines

In a press statement, Minister Dačić reaffirmed that Serbia did not accept anything that would entail crossing its red lines.

“This agreement is very important. It is a part of the comprehensive efforts we have been investing in the normalisation of our relations with Pristina for ten years. That is all it is, nothing more”, stated Minister Dačić, who is in Brussels, taking part in the International Donors' Conference in support of the people affected by the earthquakes in Türkiye and Syria.

Minister Dačić wrote that Serbia was careful with its formulations, and that it wanted normalisation. He believes that the agreement reached in Ohrid is a good one in this regard, and that, if everyone observes it, it may contribute to normalisation and tension reduction.

“The text itself states that the Parties have different views on the issue of status. How could it then be seen as recognition? On the other hand, you have clearly heard, from President Aleksandar Vučić, from Prime Minister Ana Brnabić and from me, that we have agreed to implement the agreed terms without crossing any of our red lines. These would be mutual recognition and membership in the UN”, noted Minister Dačić.

Minister Dačić emphasised that Serbia had successfully protected its national and state interests, and that it was a major boost for further European integration.

He added that the Community of Serb Municipalities would become part of the EU legal system, and that its implementation will be binding for Pristina.
