The Ambassador of the Republic of Serbia to the United States, Marko Đurić, met in the Senate with a member of the Committee on Foreign Affairs, Bill Hagerty, and talked with him about the importance of strengthening economic relations with the United States, as well as in our region.

Assessing that well-developed economic cooperation is a strong thread of overall bilateral relations, Ambassador Đurić informed Senator Hagerty about a number of financial parameters that confirm that Serbia is a leader in economic development in this part of Europe.

"Current data show that the inflow of foreign investments in Serbia alone is about 61%, while our region has a total of 39%. It is an indicator of the perspective of concepts such as the "Open Balkans", because such initiatives directly open new doors for the future of the entire region", said Đurić.

Within the economic topics, the interlocutors also paid attention to energy security issues, where Ambassador Đurić assessed that the interests of Serbia and the United States are complementary in those areas as well.

He added that every country today strives to strengthen its energy independence by continuously supplying energy and thus strengthen the overall economic stability and position on the international scene.
