Ljubljana: Serbian Culture Month in Slovenia
During June, when it is the peak of cultural events in Slovenia, the best of Serbian culture will be presented in the five largest cities of that country. There are two exhibitions to start with: “Musical Friendship ― Davorin Jenko and Stevan Stojanović Mokranjac” held by the Belgrade City Museum and an exhibition entitled “Where everyone is silent, they speak”, which represents a collection of folk instruments from the collection of the Ethnographic Museum in Belgrade. The visitors in Slovenia will have the opportunity to see the theatre play “Crnjanski Symphony” performed by Dadov Theatre, as well as the premiere of the hit film “Once Upon a Time in Serbia”.
The Youth Folklore Festival will be held in Postojna, Koper, and Piran, while the book “Slovenians in Serbia under German Occupation 1941−1944” will be presented to audiences in four cities and will try to reunite the descendants of the Slovenians whose ancestors spent World War II in Serbian families.
The highlight of the first Serbian Culture Month is the gala concert of the famous violinist Stefan Milenković. He will perform with the ensemble Camerata Novi Sad and play on the museum violin on which the famous composer Giuseppe Tartini played three centuries ago.
The first Serbian Culture Month in Slovenia is taking place in seven cities in Slovenia: Ljubljana, Maribor, Portorož, Koper, Postojna, Celje, and Velenje.
