Kuwait: Chargé d'Affaires Vidaković with the Assistant Minister for Economic Affairs at the Kuwaiti MFA
Chargé d’Affaires Vidaković and Ambassador Al-Hamad assessed the bilateral relations between Serbia and Kuwait as exceptional, which had a positive effect on the political level, but the successful communication on the political and multilateral level was not accompanied by the economic cooperation.
Chargé d’Affaires Vidaković pointed out the rich history of understanding and friendship between Serbia and Kuwait and expressed readiness and desire to strengthen not only the economic cooperation but also the cooperation in the field of investments, health, tourism, and infrastructure. She expressed interest in holding the Joint Committee for Economic Cooperation in Kuwait as the previous session was held in Belgrade in 2011.
Chargé d’Affaires Vidaković informed Ambassador Al-Hamad about the activities undertaken by the Embassy of the Republic of Serbia in Kuwait in terms of the bilateral economic cooperation in the last few months. It was highlighted that the business communities in Serbia were extremely interested in renewing the once very successful economic cooperation with Kuwait.
Also, Chargé d’Affaires Vidaković briefed Ambassador Al-Hamad on the scope of the October visit to Belgrade by Foreign Minister of Kuwait Sheikh Dr. Ahmed Nasser Al-Mohammed Al-Sabah, when he had separate meetings with President Aleksandar Vučić, Prime Minister Ana Brnabić, and Minister of Foreign Affairs Nikola Selaković on the sidelines of the commemorative gathering marking the 60th anniversary of the first Non-Aligned Movement conference. During these talks, the possibility of signing an agreement on cooperation between the Republic of Serbia Government and the Government of Kuwait was discussed, which would establish a broader framework of bilateral cooperation, primarily in the economic field, and essentially have the character of a strategic partnership agreement.
Ambassador Al-Hamad expressed his satisfaction with the activities in the field of connecting the business communities of the two countries. He underlined the importance of ensuring a safe food supply chain, which was a priority for Kuwait.
Ambassador Al-Hamad assessed that the world was facing great challenges in terms of security and stability, ensuring food supply as well as water and energy resources, implying the need for establishing mutual cooperation, now more than ever.
In the conversation with Ambassador Al-Hamad, special attention was paid to the candidacy of the Republic of Serbia for the organisation of the Specialised World Exhibition “EXPO 2027”. Chargé d’Affaires Vidaković pointed out that the Republic of Serbia had hosted numerous important international events for many years, and that it had significant experience in organising such gatherings, which placed Serbia among the serious candidates for hosting this exhibition.
