Copenhagen: Study visit by final-year undergraduate students of the University of Copenhagen and the Aalborg University to the Embassy of the Republic of Serbia
Prior to a presentation and lecture, students had an opportunity to view parts of an exhibition held on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Serbia and Denmark. A traditional Serbian appetizer was served with Serbian Rtanj tea ― a suitable choice considering the name of the initiative.
Ambassador Jasmina Mitrović-Marić held a multimedia presentation about Serbia, in an innovative manner tailored to the student population and the Danish audience. Several videos were shown about global scientific and cultural achievements by Serbs, which are little known, particularly in Denmark.
Short films shown at this event included films about Mileva Einstein, about the first hydropower plant in Europe ― which was constructed in the Serbian town of Užice ―, Serbian scientists who were members of the team of the Apollo 13 mission, French President Macron’s speech in Serbian during his visit to Serbia, etc. Excerpts from a travelogue by the iconic Danish author Hans Christian Andersen were read. He wrote about Serbia with great enthusiasm, something that was a revelation to the audience.
The students showed a lot of interest in Serbia, admitting that they had little knowledge about the country, and that most of it was from the media.
After the lecture and the Q&A session, which lasted over two hours, the students wished to remain at the Embassy for an informal conversation which lasted another hour. In the conversation, the students conveyed their exceptionally positive impressions about the presentation, the Embassy, and the hospitality shown to them. Before leaving, the students received gifts which contained promotional materials about Serbia.
