Canberra: Ambassador Stefanović met with the Serbian female basketball players in Sydney

The Serbian women's national basketball team had the opportunity to socialise in Sydney with members of the numerous Serbian community in Australia.

The meeting, organised by the Serbian Embassy in Canberra, in cooperation with basketball clubs „Obilić“ and „Crvena zvezda“, was held in Cathy Freeman Park in Sydney Olympic Park, and a large number of the Serbian community members responded to the invitation, especially the youngest basketball enthusiasts.

Ambassador of the Republic of Serbia in Canberra Rade Stefanović expressed his great satisfaction that a national team from Serbia would perform at a major world competition on Australian soil and that the Serbs would have the opportunity to watch and cheer for their national team live.

Head coach of the women's national basketball team Marina Maljković thanked for the reception and the company. She emphasised that it would be a great honour for the women's national team to have numerous fans in the stands, that she was aware of how much such meetings and socialising with the national teams meant to the Serbian community, and that they were always very happy to respond to such invitations.

The Women's Basketball World Cup will be held in Sydney from 22 September to 1 October 2022.
