Brasília: Collective cheering during the World Cup in the Serbian Embassy

25. Nov 2022.
The Embassy of the Republic of Serbia in Brasília organised a collective viewing of the World Cup match between the national teams of Serbia and Brazil for members of the Serbian diaspora, friends from the diplomatic corps, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Brazil and the Government of the Federal District.

On the day of the match, the Brazilian public was focusing all its attention on the match between Serbia and Brazil, as it was Brazil’s first match at the World Cup in Qatar.

The media showed an unprecedented interest in this event, beyond all reporting on our country in the past.

During the day, there were many media features about Serbia and the Serbian expectations from the World Cup. Chargé d'affaires Jelena Blažević was interviewed for Rádio Nacional, and TV SBT Esporte, TV GloboNews and TV Globo had live reports from the Embassy before the match. (All these media outlets are public services available throughout Brazil.)

National and local media were showing the event live and covering it from the Embassy, together with the guests.

This was an opportunity to present Serbia’s tourism potential, cultural and historic heritage and cuisine.

In spite of Serbia national team’s defeat, Chargé d'affaires Blažević used the opportunity to highlight the good relations and friendship between Serbia and Brazil and the close relationship between the people of the two countries.
