The Ambassador of the Republic of Serbia to the United States, Marko Đurić, met with Senator Roger Wicker, a member of the Military Committee in the US Senate, with whom he discussed the current political and security situation in the region.

Emphasizing the importance of continuing the frequent dialogue and intensive cooperation – especially in the year of the great jubilee in the diplomatic relations between Serbia and the USA, Ambassador Đurić thanked Senator Wicker for his continuous interest in bilateral and regional issues, as well as his commitment to achieving common interests.

Wicker, who has represented the state of Mississippi in the Upper House of the American Congress since 2007, positively assessed the efforts of the Republic of Serbia so far in terms of regional stability and reconciliation. In his opinion, the attitude of President Aleksandar Vučić, both in regional and international meetings, especially contributed to such a position, which he witnessed personally on several occasions.

Roger Wicker is one of the highest-ranking members of the US Government's Commission for Security and Cooperation in Europe, also known as the Helsinki Commission, whose main tasks are monitoring human rights, economic cooperation and international security in 57 countries in Europe, Eurasia and North America.
