Toronto: Opening of a monument dedicated to all generations of Serbs in Canada

01. Aug 2022.
With the blessing of His Grace Bishop of the Serbian Orthodox Church of Canada Dr Mitrofan and under the patronage of Consul General of the Republic of Serbia in Toronto Vasilij Petković and his wife Dragana, and the All Serbian Saints Serbian Orthodox Church in Mississauga, the Serbian community got a monument dedicated to all generations of Serbs who had preserved the Serbian heritage and tradition in Canada for over a hundred years.

The monument not only preserves the memory of the ancestors of Serbian immigrants to Canada, but also embodies the cooperation and unbreakable link between the Eparchy of the Serbian Orthodox Church in Canada, the Serbian community in Canada and the Consulate General of the Republic of Serbia in Toronto.

The monument has been constructed according to the conceptual design of the Serbian Canadian artist Ljiljana Otašević from Toronto, who has donated her work to the Serbian community in Canada.  Construction of the monument has been financed with contributions by a group of Canadians of Serbian origin.
