As part of his visit to Latvia, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Serbia Marko Djuric met today in Riga with the President of the Latvian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Aigars Rostovskis, and representatives of that institution.

Expressing satisfaction with today's meeting, Djuric pointed out that Serbia was open to being a business hub and gateway to the Western Balkan region for Latvian companies.

"One of the priorities of the new Government is to strengthen economic development and cooperation with the countries of Europe and the world. In this context, we are convinced that there is room and there are opportunities for a versatile and productive expansion of cooperation with Latvia," the Minister emphasized.

At the meeting, intensification of ties between the two chambers of commerce, as well as business entities and industries of Serbia and Latvia, was discussed, noting the possibility of organizing joint activities such as business meetings and events aimed at stronger networking of business communities.

"We discussed the possibility of signing a Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation between the Serbian Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Latvian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, which would give our bilateral economic relations a new, stronger impetus," Djuric said.

The head of Serbian diplomacy particularly pointed out the importance and potential of cooperation in the fields of IT industry, science and agriculture, stressing that Belgrade would host the international specialized exhibition EXPO 2027, which was an opportunity not only for Latvian companies to arrive and present themselves, but also for concrete cooperation.
